MediaToURL respects copyright and other intellectual property rights. Users may upload or share a file only when they own the content or have the permission or legal basis required to host and distribute it.
This page explains how a copyright owner or authorized representative can report a MediaToURL hosted file that they believe infringes copyright. The exact legal procedure available can depend on the location of the parties and the law that applies to the notice.
Submitting a Copyright Notice
Send the notice to [email protected] with the subject "Copyright Notice".
The notice should identify the copyrighted work, provide the exact MediaToURL URL for the material being reported, explain why the use is believed to be unauthorized, and provide contact information for the person making the report. The reporter should also confirm that the information supplied is accurate and that they are the copyright owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
A broad request without enough information to identify the hosted material may require clarification because MediaToURL needs the exact asset before access can be restricted safely.
Review and Action
MediaToURL may temporarily restrict access while a copyright complaint is reviewed. Where the available information reasonably supports removal or continued restriction, MediaToURL may disable the relevant delivery routes, remove the asset, apply an account restriction, or take another action allowed by the Terms of Service.
A copyright complaint does not automatically prove infringement. MediaToURL may request more information where ownership, authorization, fair use, another legal exception, or the identity of the affected material is unclear.
Response From the Uploader
Where appropriate and legally permitted, MediaToURL may notify the uploader that access was restricted and allow the uploader to provide information showing that the material was removed because of a mistake, misidentification, permission, ownership, or another lawful basis.
Restoration is not guaranteed merely because an uploader responds. MediaToURL may keep a file unavailable while a genuine rights dispute remains unresolved or while legal obligations require continued restriction.
Repeat Copyright Abuse
Accounts that repeatedly upload material they do not have the right to host may be restricted or terminated. The circumstances of each report can be reviewed because an invalid, withdrawn, mistaken, or successfully disputed complaint should not automatically be treated in the same way as a confirmed infringement.
Contact
Copyright notices can be sent to [email protected]. Do not attach the allegedly infringing file merely to report it. Send the exact MediaToURL URL and the information needed to identify the work safely.
